The town of Broumov is a small town where you can do your shopping and enjoy a nice meal out. A visit to the town's famous monastery is also well worth your while.
This Benedictine monastery dates back to the 14th century and, together with the accompanying Gothic cathedral of St. Adalbert, forms an imposing and very beautiful building surrounded by a lovely spacious garden. Here you can also enjoy a bite to eat or a drink.
The oldest wooden church in the Czech Republic is also located in Broumov. This incredibly beautiful church has been a cultural monument in the Czech Republic since 2008.
For beer lovers (pilsner originally comes from the Czech Republic), a visit to the oldest brewery in Broumov is a must. The Opat brewery offers guided tours and very interesting tastings. Pepper beer or beer with banana and chocolate, and many more original flavours.
‘De Broumovské Steny’ is a long, irregular mountain ridge with rock formations along rugged gorges. It has been a protected nature reserve since 1991. It is located about 12 kilometres from Camping Šonov. This area has a network of tourist walking and cycling routes that vary in length and difficulty, with beautiful views. In good weather, you can even see the Giant Mountains with Sněžka (Snow Head), the highest mountain in the Czech Republic. This is also definitely worth a visit.
The sandstone rock towns in the ‘Adrspach National Reserve’ near Teplice nad Metuji and Dolni Adrspach are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic. These sights are located about 15 kilometres from ‘Camping Šonov’. Large rock labyrinths, passages through deep gorges and views of the rock faces await you on your journey along carefully marked routes. Reservations are required.
The region borders Poland, so a stay in the Broumov region can be easily combined with exploring Polish sights in the border area.
